IN: What Does COBRA Do?

Dear Valued Customer,

This issue of the “—————–” provides you with important information about COBRA coverage. COBRA is a Federal law requiring that employers offer employees — and their spouses and dependents — continuing insurance coverage if their work hours are cut or they lose their job for any reason other than gross misconduct.

Congress passed the landmark Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act health benefit provisions in 1986. The law amends the Employee Retirement Income Security Act, the Internal Revenue Code and the Public Health Service Act to provide continuation of group health coverage that otherwise might be terminated. Subsequently, additional changes have been made to the law to further amend numerous aspects of COBRA coverage. Read on to find out more information, and please seek professional guidance from your tax advisor.

We appreciate your continued business and look forward to serving you.

Kind regards,
